Trivia experience overview

Updated over a week ago

Trivia experiences allow you to engage your audience with quick, interactive questions that test their knowledge and promote product discovery. These experiences are designed to be lightweight and fun, increasing time spent on your website or campaign, and helping you learn more about your audience through their responses.

Before you begin

  • Determine if you will give away anything upon completion (coupon, consultation, prize, etc.)

  • Prepare copy for 3-5 questions and answers.

Anatomy of a trivia experience

A simple layout

Start by selecting a layout that complements your brand and encourages interaction. Vertical and card-style layouts tend to perform well, as they are easy to follow and mobile friendly.

Tip: Choose a layout that allows users to see the question and answers on the same screen to reduce friction and maintain engagement.

Welcome screen

Use the welcome screen to set the tone and introduce the trivia. Keep the copy short and benefit-focused, and clearly communicate what the experience is about.

  • Example: “Find out how much you know about skincare!” or “Test your style knowledge in under 30 seconds.” If you have a benefit, ex: "Win a free consultation!" then make sure to add that on the welcome screen.

Questions

Add between 3 and 5 trivia questions to keep users engaged without overwhelming them. Keep your tone consistent with your brand and keep each question clear and concise.

  • Use 2 to 4 answer choices per question.

  • Avoid repeating answer choices unless needed.

  • Keep question formats varied to maintain user interest.

Tip: When in doubt, make the tone fun and informative. Use humor or curiosity to encourage answers.

Instant feedback

Use screen overlays to provide immediate feedback that includes fun facts or product insights. This helps reinforce learning, introduces new products, and creates a better experience.

  • Example: If someone selects a correct answer, follow up with a line like, “Correct! Vitamin C boosts brightness and protects against damage.”

Lead capture

Add a lead capture screen immediately before the outcomes screen to increase your likelihood of capturing user data.

Optimize the outcome screen

Use the results screen to showcase something meaningful. Instead of just showing a score, tie in product recommendations, fun personality labels, or next steps. Always include a clear call to action—whether it’s to shop, learn more, or explore additional content.

  • Example: “You’re a Skincare Pro! Check out our Vitamin C collection to keep that glow going.”

Next steps

  • Embed your trivia experience on your website or share via a campaign link.
