Date of Birth, Age Gating and Translating Date Fields

Updated yesterday

The Date of Birth form field in Experiences by Jebbit enables you to personalize experiences based on age. This includes configuring age gating to restrict content access and translating date fields to support non-English experiences. Together, these tools help you tailor experiences responsibly for diverse audiences.

Before you begin

  • Decide whether your experience needs age gating or localized date formats.

  • Gather necessary design or compliance requirements (e.g., minimum age, regional date display standards).

  • Ensure stakeholders are aligned on how to handle responses from users below the age limit.

Add and configure age gating with the Date of Birth field

  1. Add the Date of Birth field
    a. In the Add Element tab, go to Form Elements and select Date of Birth.

    b. This is a special field separate from the general Date field. It includes additional options specific to age-based logic and compliance requirements.

  2. Enable and configure age gating

    a. Select the Date of Birth field in your experience.

    b. In the left-hand panel, check Age Gating.

    c. Enter the cutoff age (e.g., 21).

    d. Choose what happens when a user is underage:

    • Show an error message and block access.

    • Branch them to an alternate screen or experience.

    e. (Optional) Select Do not collect leads under the age limit to discard submissions from underage users.

Translate date dropdowns

  1. Click on the Date of Birth or Date field in your experience.

  2. Scroll to the Date Format section in the left-hand panel.

  3. Select your desired language from the dropdown.

    • Jebbit automatically adjusts the date format and abbreviations based on the selected language (e.g., French shows date fields in Day–Month–Year format).

Next steps

  • Test the experience in both standard and underage scenarios to confirm logic.

  • Verify translated dropdowns appear correctly for target language audiences.

FAQ

Can users below the age limit still take the experience?

  • Yes. You can direct them to a different screen or flow. If enabled, Jebbit will capture responses but obfuscate information captured on the lead data screen for these users.

Can users retry and bypass age gating?

  • No. Once routed based on age, users cannot retake the experience with a different age.
