Custom Error Messages

You can now update the error messages that populate to your users when they type in an invalid input. For instance, if a user types in an email address that does not contain an '@' symbol, they will receive an error message "Please use a valid email address." Watch below or read along to learn how!

Step by Step Guide

  1. You can apply custom error messaging to any Style Guide. In this way, any experience you create that uses a Style Guide will automatically have the custom error messaging populated.

  2. Open up the Design menu from the Builder Map. (It's the paintbrush icon on the righthand side of your screen!)

  3. Click to 'Edit' a Style Guide

  4. Click 'Edit Error Messaging' along the lefthand side.

  5. Update the language and text color of any field you wish to update

  6. Click 'Save' to apply your changes

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to update the Error Messaging on all of the Style Guides in my account?

A: Any changes you make to the error messaging of one Style Guide will apply to all other Style Guides automatically, (so you don't have to worry about updating multiple Style Guides).

Q: Is it possible to customize Error Messaging on one experience only?

A: To customize Error Messaging on one experience only follow these steps:

  1. Head into the Builder of the experience you wish to update

  2. Open up Style Guide

  3. Click 'Edit Error Messaging' along the lefthand side

  4. Update the language and text color of any field you wish to update

  5. Click 'Save' to apply your changes

Q: Can I restore the default error messaging text?

A: To restore the default text, simply delete what you have written and you will see the original/default text return. Then, hit save. (The default text is a lighter gray than anything you've manually updated).

Q: Do custom error messages copy over when copying an experience?

A: Any copied experience will inherit the error messaging of the original experience.
