Add ReCAPTCHA

This article explains how to enable ReCAPTCHA services within your Experiences by Jebbit to enhance security.

Updated this week

ReCAPTCHA protects your experience from fraudulent activities, spam, and abuse by identifying likely bots.

Before you begin

Jebbit ReCAPTCHA is not available out-of-the-box. This feature is reserved for sweepstakes and giveaway experiences. To turn it on for your brand, reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).

Enable ReCAPTCHA

Once the feature is enabled for your brand, you can configure it within individual experiences.

  1. From the 'More' menu in the Builder Map, open the 'ReCAPTCHA' option.

  2. Toggle the Enable reCAPTCHA option 'on'.

  3. Click Save.

  4. Publish your experience to set ReCAPTCHA live. Saving alone is not sufficient.

After turning ReCAPTCHA on, you can choose if the ReCAPTCHA badge displays within your experience. If you do not toggle this option on, we recommend using text within your experience to inform users that ReCAPTCHA is running in the background.

FAQ

What is ReCAPTCHA?

  • ReCAPTCHA is a Google product that has become the industry standard for securing internet content.

What does Jebbit do if ReCAPTCHA catches a bot?

  • When ReCAPTCHA identifies a user as 'likely' to be a bot, that user session is invalidated. This means the user’s data is not included in Analytics or transferred via integration to any of your systems.

Will users going through my experience be able to tell that ReCAPTCHA is on? What does it do in an experience?

  • Jebbit uses a version of ReCAPTCHA that does not require users to do anything, such as choosing images or typing characters. Instead, ReCAPTCHA runs in the background, unnoticed by your users. It tracks factors like how users click buttons and how they move their mouse to determine how likely each user is to be a bot.
