Adding a screen timer

Follow these steps to add a Screen Timer element to a screen:

  1. In the editor, select Add Element.

  2. Click the Timer element button. This adds a Screen Timer to the screen.

Customizing a screen timer

Customize the Screen Timer's appearance and behavior using several options. You can modify the following:

  • Animation: Choose from different visual styles for the timer countdown:

    • Circle: Displays a countdown circle showing time remaining.

    • Bar: Shows a small horizontal bar indicating time remaining.

    • None: Auto-advances the screen without visual indication to the user. This is useful for temporary screens like transitions, response UI, or educational content.

  • Appearance: Customize the look to match your brand style. You can choose the primary color, secondary color, font, and hide or display text.

  • Expiration Behavior: Decide what happens when the timer expires. The timer expiring is treated like a branch off the screen in the Builder Map. You can connect this branch to a dedicated screen, such as a "Time's Up!" screen, or simply advance the user to the next screen in the flow.

Managing screen timer

  • The timer expiring creates a branch on the screen in the Builder Map. Connect this branch to the screen you want the user to see after the timer runs out. This allows you to send users down a specific path based on the timer expiring, similar to how you manage other branches.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does reporting look like if the user doesn't respond in time?

If a user's timer expires, it will show like this in the reporting. A timer expiration counts towards engagement and as a response.

  • How does it effect what outcome logic looks like if the user don't respond to a question?

The same way you can assign logic to a question response, you can also apply logic to a timer expiration.

  • Can I use overlay responses with this?

Yes! This is useful to show a "Time's Up!" message. You can set your overlay response the same way as you would for a response.
