Screens Overview

Updated this week

Screens are the pages of your experience where each screen represents a moment where you engage customers—whether through questions, product recommendations, lead forms, or other interactive content.

Each experience contains one or more screens, and each screen can be customized with layout types, elements, and style settings to match your brand and campaign goals.

Before you begin

  • Configure and save your style guide. When you create an experience, and select screens to add, you'll apply your branded style guide. This creates an easier starting point. All screens can be edited later as needed.

Screen layouts and elements

Each screen is made up of:

  • A layout: Defines the structure of your screen (e.g., vertical, horizontal, split-screen).

  • Elements: These are the content blocks you add to your screen, like images, buttons, text, and form fields.

Determine positioning

How elements sit in a layout is determined by either:

  • Structured layouts (Auto-positioning): Elements snap into predefined zones. This helps ensure a consistent, responsive layout across devices.

  • Free form positioning: Gives you full control to place elements anywhere on the screen, regardless of layout boundaries.

Auto-positioning is on by default. To enable free form positioning for an element:

  1. Select the element you want to move.

  2. Select the three dot menu.

  3. Click Positioning > Free Form Positioning.

Add, duplicate, and delete screens

There are multiple ways to add a screen to an experience, meaning you can do what's best for your workflow.

Add screens from the Editor

The Editor is where you configure styling, copy, and personalization. It's typical to add new screens from here as you're building an experience.

  1. Open an experience and go to the Editor page.

  2. Hover over the + Add Screen and click it.

  3. Expand the drop-down and select as many screens as you want to add.

  4. Click Add.

Tip: Click and drag screens in the preview window to reorder them.

Add screens from the Builder Map

The Builder Map is where you configure user flow. Sometimes in that process you determine you want to add additional screens. You can return to the editor, or:

  1. Select the branch you want to redirect

  2. Click Add screen.

  3. Expand the drop-down and select a screen

  4. Click Add.

  5. The screen(s) are inserted into the experience flow based on the branch you selected.

Duplicate an existing screen

Duplicating screens creates is efficient if you want to style all screens similarly and then just change the copy for each one. To duplicate from the editor:

  1. Open an experience and go to the Editor page.

  2. Hover over the screen in the screen selector and click the three dot menu.

  3. Click Duplicate screen.

  4. The screen will duplicate with (copy) at the end of the name.

Delete a screen

Deleting a screen removes it from your experience. To delete:

  1. Open an experience and go to the Editor page.

  2. Hover over the screen in the screen selector and click the three dot menu.

  3. Scroll down and select Remove Screen.

Note: If you delete a screen after you configure branching, the branching will be impacted. Check the Builder Map to confirm the user flow looks as expected after removing screens.

Rename each screen

All screens have default names from the screen library. We recommend that you rename each screen in an experience while working in the Editor. This ensures:

  • Easier navigation in the Builder Map (especially if you have a large number of screens.)

  • Easier navigation of analytics and experience insights.

To rename a screen:

  1. Open an experience and go to the Editor page.

  2. Hover over the screen in the screen selector and click the three dot menu.

  3. Click Rename.

  4. Enter a name.

  5. Click Save.

Save a screen to the screen library

While the screen library is comprised of pre-configured templates, you can save customized screens to the library for future use in other experiences.

  1. In the experience go to the Builder Map.

  2. Hover over the screen you want to save and click the three dot menu.

  3. Select Save to Library.

  4. Select the category you want the screen to live under.

    1. If you do not select a category, it will live under "Uncategorized"

  5. Enter a name for the screen.

  6. Click Done.
