Shopify Metafields

Updated this week

When integrating Experiences by Jebbit with Shopify, standard product data like price, title, and descriptions is automatically included in your product recommendation experiences. However, if you want to showcase custom product content such as a unique description specifically written for your campaign, you’ll need to create metafields in Shopify and configure them in Jebbit.

Metafields enable you to display information that’s tailored for Jebbit experiences, without altering how products appear on your Shopify storefront.

Before you begin

  • Access to your Shopify admin to create and update metafields.

  • An active experience that uses product recommendations.

Display Metafields in your Experience

  1. Create the required metafields in Shopify.

  2. Navigate to the Editor in your experience.

  3. Click on Add Elements > Product Feed Display in the editor.

  4. Select Add Product Feed Fields from the lefthand menu in the Labels section, and search for and select the metafields you wish to display to the end user. (You will see the prefix "meta:" before the metafield name.)

An experience only displays metafields for products where they are defined, empty metafields are excluded by default.

Next steps

  • Click Preview to open a test of your experience and confirm that your metafield content appears for the correct product.

FAQ

Will added metafields be visible in my product feed?

Yes. When exporting your product feed .csv, the metafields you've associated with each product will appear along with your other standard fields.

The descriptions for products on our site are super long. Is there a way to shorten them?

  • Metafields are a perfect tool for showing custom product descriptions in Jebbit versus what is displayed on your site. Metafields allow you to display any custom details in Jebbit, without impacting your website.
